Field 137

Field 137 is a short Bitsy project created for Phoenix Isolation Jam.

It is a game about tidying up a cellular automata system. In doing so you will discover the particular rules that govern this form.

The work follows Rule 137, although I might have made some mistakes - so bonus points for spotting those. There are plenty of ways to get a computer to generate these cellular automata, but I have recently found it to be a good exercise to just draw them by hand.

Hopefully this game creates a contemplative space that feels connected and hopeful in difficult times.
